2013 King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament moves to Bangkok

King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament

Anantara Hotels Resorts and Spas reveals the 13th Annual King’s Elephant Polo Tournament will no longer take part in the beach resort town of Hua Hin but, due to overwhelming demand, has moved to the Siam Polo Park in Bangkok’s VR Sports Club.

This year’s tournament will be held from August 28th – 31st and involve a total of fifty street elephants taking the field.

Off the field the fantastic four day festival includes a spectacular opening parade, Children’s Day, Ladies Day and a variety of enjoyable elephant related activities that will entertain the whole family.

Known as one of the largest annual charitable events in South East Asia, the funds raised from the tournament will continue to support a number of Thailand’s wild and domesticated elephant projects.

Last year’s donations contributed towards building the first elephant hospital in Krabi in the southern part of Thailand as well as towards the Thai Elephant Therapy Project (TETP) – a world first technique using domestic elephants in therapy sessions with autistic children in the Northern Thailand town of Lampang.
