If you’re looking for the perfect vantage point for business or sightseeing in Singapore and you value sustainability and love to wine and dine, then look no further than the Parkroyal Collection Pickering, Singapore.
The moment you arrive at the Parkroyal Collection Pickering, you are transformed into feeing like you’ve stepped into an oasis in the city.
The hotel is as appealing on the inside as it is from the outside.
From the outside, you can’t help but notice the ‘garden in the sky’, which has become yet another of Singapore’s urban planning masterpieces since the hotel opened six years ago. The greenery gently permeates from one level to the next, bringing to life the ‘hotel in the garden’ theme. In fact, the green and eco-friendly look is not just on the exterior – everything about the Parkroyal Collection Pickering and its 367-rooms is about adhering to the principles of sustainability. From bottled water from their proudly labelled purification system in the rooms, to separate bins for recyclable waste and absolutely no plastic anywhere, unlike most, the hotel walks the talk on sustainability.
From your room it is hard not to notice the broad range of plants that adorn the exterior, many hanging proudly towards the bustling Singapore streets below. But an even better place to view the the greenery is on level five of the hotel, which hosts a striking infinity pool. Whilst Marina Bay Sands Hotel undoubtedly houses Singapore’s most famous infinity pool, the Parkroyal’s, whilst much smaller, is a sight in itself. Nestled away and surrounded by coloured birdcage cabanas, the infinity pool leaks out towards the city, providing the most attractive views of the hustle and bustle of Singapore downtown. Surrounded by a gym, the resident spa and a welcoming garden-walk, the area is somewhere high-above to forget the stresses of a busy day of business or sightseeing. Like all of the Parkroyal on Pickering, the design is masterful – whilst paddling away in the pool, cocktail not far away, it is not uncommon for a coloured or scented frangipani to drop into the pool from one of the many hanging trees high-above.
Equally, if wining and dining is your thing, then this is the place to be. The award-winning Lime restaurant is a winner, providing all you can eat buffets, in a sophisticated, high-end way. Food is fresh, plentiful and the Sunday offering is known widely as one of Singapore’s very-best. The nearby indoor-outdoor bar serves perfectly chilled Tiger Beer on tap, a pleasing international wine list and superb snacks like satay chicken and nasi goreng making it the perfect sitting, resting and watching place as you settle your sore feet following a full day of sightseeing. And this hotel is indeed the perfect place to set-up base if sightseeing is your thing. The popular Clarke Quay and Boat Quay areas, full of bars and restaurants cuddling the Singapore river, are a stones throw away and the majority of Singapores’s attractions from Parliament to temples, are also very close by. For those who love old English quaintery, a trip to Singapore Cricket Club, with one of the best views in town from its outdoor bar area, is a treat of its own!
Indeed apart from the meritorious nod to sustainability, the modern, clean and well presented rooms and the outstanding restaurants and bars, the real secret to the Parkroyal is its location. Sitting right next to Chinatown, and within an easy walk to almost everything, the hotel is the perfect centralised starting point for a trip to the city of lights!
