On the eve of celebrating its 25th anniversary, leading tourist specialist Helen Wong’s Tours has added an exciting 15-day cruise and rail journey along with a two-week family-friendly group tour to a broader China program for 2012-2013.
Furthermore, the China specialist will guarantee that 50 per cent of its group tour itineraries go ahead – based on a minimum two guests.
Another money-saving highlight is “Helen’s Choice” of bonuses – a list of fascinating activities and experiences such as taking in a special evening performance or having a traditional dinner – all included in the prices of the group tours.
“Understandably, a lot has changed since we began selling organised tours for Australians to China 25 years ago,” said Helen Wong, founder and managing director of Helen Wong’s Tours. “But the enthusiasm to create and promote the People’s Republic remains as strong – If not stronger – in our endeavours to find new product for what is now a new-look China with its mix of contemporary and historically rich and much treasured features,” she said.
“To accompany our silver anniversary we have a string of innovations in our China program for 2012-2013 which will excite Australians.”
The two new group tours are:
- 15-day Cruise and Rail Journey, priced from $4390 per person, twin share with guaranteed minimum two guests, begins with a flight from Australia to Chongqing and includes an excursion to Dazu to see the remarkable Buddhist archaeological sites before boarding Victoria Cruises for the cruise along the Yangtze through the breathtaking Three Gorges – and beyond – to Shanghai. Riverside Wuhan is visited along with Huangshan (Yellow Mountain) and Nanjing. After touring Shanghai, guests will board the high-speed train for the rapid five-hour journey to Beijing.
- 14-day Family Affair, priced from $4220 per person, twin share (children 2-11 years from $2990), a family-friendly journey which begins with a flight from Australia to Beijing for such appealing activities as taking a rickshaw ride through the historic hutongs (back alleys), having a meal with a Chinese family and taking in the colourful action-aplenty Legend of Kung Fu performance. The tour then moves to Shanghai where families are treated to such a performance as the world famous acrobatic show, Hong Kong where they can spend a day at Disneyland) and Macau to marvel over such shows as The House of the Dancing Water extravaganza.
Among Helen Wong’s Tours’ 18 China group tours are such favourites as the 12-day China Discovery, priced from $3850pp, twin share, the 14-day China Odyssey, from $4390pp, twin share and the 15-day Yangtze Wonders, from $4450pp, twin share.
On group tours involving a Yangtze cruise, Helen Wong’s Tours’ guests will be guaranteed a cabin on Victoria Cruises’ executive deck with free access to the executive lounge, a-la-carte dining restaurant with complimentary local wine an hour before dinner each evening. Furthermore, onboard tipping is included.
In addition, there’s the tour specialist’s Premium China program which was designed for guests wanting luxury – and a bit of pampering – in their touring.
Premium China guests on a Yangtze cruise are guaranteed accommodation in an executive suite with access to the executive lounge, a-la-carte dining restaurant with complimentary local wine before dinner each evening.
The impressive China Encounters program for independent travellers continues to be an integral part of the Helen Wong’s Tours China program, created to offer maximum flexibility, travel on any date, the choice of first and deluxe accommodation and a wide variety of itinerary options – with private car and English-speaking guide.
“For all those who have toured or repeatedly toured with Helen Wong’s Tours, I want to wholeheartedly say ‘thank you’,” said Ms Wong.
“We look to our silver anniversary as a precious milestone,” she said. “As we journey through 2012-2013, we see this as a platform to continue delivering the best products and services – for many years to come.”
