Small plates, no waste at Yashin Ocean House

At Yashin Ocean House nothing goes to waste. The food philosophy here is “head-to-tail fish” using the freshest local produce, so expect nothing less from their new menu.

A modern Japanese restaurant in South Kensington, Ocean House is a spin-off of the original Yashin, a pricey but highly rated sushi bar.

The restaurant’s newly launched small plates menu – ideal for sharing – combines classics such as teriyaki and tempura and more innovative dishes for which the restaurant is known.

Under Yasuhiro Mineno, formerly of Ubon by Nobu, and Shinya Ikeda, ex-head chef at Yumi restaurant, Yashin Ocean House aims to expose diners to new ways of savouring seafood, offering a range of cuts and flavours.

Signature dishes include umami mackerel bone and fish skin, cod cheek with chilli amazu, and Omakase sushi served over dry ice.

And the truly unmissable? Go for the spicy octopus soy ceviche and Himalayan salt bowl sea bass.
