Yoga aficionados rejoice. For one week in April the small Balinese town of Ubud will host the eighth annual BaliSpirit Festival, a global celebration of yoga, dance and music.
The festival, which attracts around 6000 people worldwide, offers a range of workshops in yoga, meditation, music and dance conducted by the world’s best instructors, running from March 31 to April 5. Seminars in health and healing are also designed to improve the wellbeing of guests.
This year’s daytime line-up includes renowned American yoga teacher Noah Maze, Yoga Synergy Sydney co-director Simon Borg Olivier, and Ronan Tang, who combines asana, Pranayama and Chinese medicine in his approach.
By nightfall the stage will be transformed for a world music concert, embracing musical traditions from a host of cultures.
The festival has raised more than US$85, 000 in the eight years since its launch, with the money going towards local charities, outreach programs and reforestation campaigns.
